China Visa Requirements
China Tourist Visa Application And Documents Required For U.S Citizens
1. Visa Application Form: Please note that it is important to upload or send electronically scanned copies of ALL required documents for the generation of your application form, as listed in the requirements below. Do not send any documents by mail to VisaHQ without the generated application form.
2. Original Passport: Your passport must have a validity of at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date from the destination country. Additionally, it should have a minimum of 2 blank visa pages.
3. Passport-Style Photograph: Include a recent passport-style photo with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. You have the option to upload a photo for us to print, but please be aware that there is a charge associated with this service.
4. Proof of Residency: Provide a copy of your driver's license, state-issued ID, or a major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric, Sewage) from the most recent month. The document should show your name and current address.
5. Previous Visas: If you no longer have your previous Chinese visa, you may include a letter explaining to the Chinese consulate when and where you received your previous visa, as well as how your passport and visa were lost. The issuance of a new visa will be at the consulate's discretion.
6. Where You Stay Form (hard copy): Please download and complete the form.
7. Hotel Reservation or Invitation Letter: Provide either a hotel reservation along with round-trip tickets (or a detailed itinerary) or an Invitation Letter. If your travel is organized by a tour group in China, an official Invitation Letter for Tourists issued by a Duly Authorized Tourism Unit in China can be used instead of a hotel reservation.
Additional Requirements for Applicants Born in China, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan:
- Chinese Name: Include the applicant's name written in Chinese characters as it appeared on the last Chinese passport.
- Proof of Name Change: If the applicant's name has changed since birth, provide a copy of the court order or marriage certificate showing the name change.
- Previous Visa: Submit a copy of a previously issued Chinese visa or the information page from your Chinese, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwanese passport. Note that if your old passport has not been canceled, you will need to submit the original passport with your application.
- Green Card: Provide a copy of the applicant's old Green Card(s).
- Copy of Naturalization Certificate.
Additional Requirements for Chinese Applicants Adopted by American Parents:
- Chinese Passport: Submit the ORIGINAL Chinese passport of the applicant.
- Proof of Name Change: If the applicant's name has changed since birth, provide a copy of the court order or marriage certificate showing the name change.
- Parent's Passports: Include clear copies of the passport information pages of both American parents.
- Certificate of Adoption: Provide a notarized certificate of adoption.
- Birth Certificate: Submit a copy of the applicant's birth certificate (usually issued in the U.S.).
- If you are a person of Tibetan origin, you must appear in person at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center to process your visa. The center will require additional documents, and VisaHQ is unable to assist with these procedures.

Application Form: The application form must be signed by both parents.

Birth Certificate: Include a copy of the applicant's birth certificate.

Parents' Passport Copies: Submit copies of the information pages of both parents' signed passports.

For children with Chinese parents, proof of the parent's status in the United States must also be provided.
- Applicants with these occupations must submit a letter from their employer stating their job description and the purpose of their visit to China. The visa processing time may be extended to 8-10 business days for these applicants.
Additional Required Documents for Recently Naturalized Citizens:
- Previous Passport: Submit your previous non-U.S. passport.
- Naturalization Certificate: Include a copy of the naturalization certificate.
Please note: All visa submissions require an appointment with the Chinese Consulate. The availability of appointments may range between 1 to 4 weeks, and appointment processing times are in addition to the visa processing timeframes.
